When the curtain comes down at the Churchill Theatre, several hundred people walk out onto the High Street at the same moment and most of them are looking for the same thing. A car booked for 22:15 on Church Road, with the driver's plate already on your phone, is a better ending to the evening than a rank queue. Taxi On The Go is a private hire firm based in Dartford that covers Bromley BR1 and BR2 – Bickley, Shortlands, Hayes and the town centre – with fixed fares at every hour. See the fare list for the whole area.

Bromley taxi fares

One-way saloon (sedan) fares from Bromley, confirmed by postcode before the car is dispatched. Bromley is inside the ULEZ and all our vehicles comply, so nothing is added on that score; airport forecourt fees are also inside the number. Add roughly 25% for a 6-seat MPV and 50% for the V Class.

CHURCHILL THEATRE, THE GLADES, HIGH STREET

Evening collections from the Churchill, The Glades and the High Street

Bromley's town centre is largely pedestrianised, so the practical pickup points are the ones a driver can actually stop at: Church Road at the side of the Churchill Theatre, the Kentish Way side of The Glades by the car park entrance, or Elmfield Road for the restaurants at the south end. Tell us which and the time – for the theatre, curtain-down plus ten minutes is about right – and the driver's registration is on your phone before the interval.

  • Bickley, Sundridge Park and Plaistow from the town centre – from £6.
  • Shortlands, Hayes and Hayes Common – from £128.
  • Bromley Common and Southborough – from £88.
  • Beckenham and West Wickham – from £14.
  • Chislehurst and Petts Wood – from £15.

The Glades' late-night shopping in December, the Bromley Picturehouse and the Christmas lights all bring the same problem of everyone leaving at once; pre-booking is the answer rather than hoping. Wait-and-return is available for a dinner out where you would rather not risk the second leg: one price, driver back at the agreed time. For a night that ends in the West End rather than Bromley, the late-night London page explains how return bookings work.

17 MINUTES TO VICTORIA

Bromley South, Bromley North and the airports question

Bromley South on the High Street is one of the best-connected stations in outer London: Victoria in 17 minutes on the fast trains, Blackfriars and St Pancras on Thameslink, and the Kent coast the other way. Bromley North on Tweedy Road is a shuttle to Grove Park. For both, the driver waits on the road outside – High Street or Tweedy Road – and the train is tracked, so a late-running service from Victoria does not become a waiting charge.

Because Victoria is so close by rail, Bromley people often ask whether a taxi to Gatwick makes sense against the Gatwick Express. Our honest answer: for one person with a rucksack at 11am, probably not. For two or more with cases, an early flight, or a late arrival back, a saloon (sedan) from £72 door to terminal – 40 to 60 minutes down the A21 to M25 Junction 4, then the M23 – usually works out cheaper and quicker than the walk, the train and the platform changes.

Other stations we run to

  • Orpington, for the fast Sevenoaks-line trains – from £88.
  • Ebbsfleet International for HS1 – from £128.
  • St Pancras, Euston or King's Cross direct – from £88, ULEZ included.
  • Dartford station – from £35.
A21 TO M25 JUNCTION 4

Bromley airport transfers with the fare set the day before

The A21 from Bromley Common through Green Street Green reaches the M25 at Junction 4 in a quarter of an hour, and that junction serves both directions: clockwise for Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton; anticlockwise for the Dartford Crossing and Stansted. Every airport fare below includes the airport's own drop-off charge and, where relevant, the Dart Charge.

Gatwick from £72

A21, M25 Junction 4 to 7, M23. 40–60 minutes. £7 forecourt fee included.

Heathrow from £83

M25 clockwise to Junction 15, or the A205 South Circular and M4 at night. 55–85 minutes. £6 charge included.

London City from £61

A2 and Blackwall Tunnel, or the A20 and Woolwich Ferry route. 30–50 minutes. No drop-off charge.

Stansted from £92 · Luton from £99

Stansted via the Crossing and M11; Luton anticlockwise to the M1. £7 and £5 fees included.

Return journeys carry flight tracking, three-quarters of an hour's free waiting after landing, and if you would like the driver inside arrivals with a name board, just say. Families at term time and groups with skis or golf bags should book the estate, MPV or V Class; the Heathrow page and Gatwick page have terminal-by-terminal notes.

PRUH, AND WHERE WE ARE BASED

Princess Royal University Hospital runs, and a word on our Dartford base

The Princess Royal University Hospital on Farnborough Common (BR6 8ND) is Bromley's A&E and main hospital, and from BR1 or BR2 the fare is from £88. Say whether you want the main entrance or the emergency department; wait-and-return covers short clinics and a discharge collection typically reaches you within 15 to 25 minutes. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available if requested at booking. Orpington Hospital and Beckenham Beacon are covered on the same basis, and transfers to King's College or Guy's are quoted as a fixed London fare.

On the subject of where we are: Taxi On The Go's office is in Dartford DA1, half an hour east on the A20 and A2. Bromley is part of the south-east London and Kent area our drivers cover every day, but for an unbooked two-minute hop up the High Street, a local rank may be quicker. For everything planned in advance you get:

  • A fare fixed before pickup, whatever the A21 does.
  • Driver name and registration texted ahead.
  • Drivers licensed for private hire, enhanced-DBS-checked, with hire-and-reward insurance.
  • Saloon (sedan) to V Class minibus, plus executive Mercedes.
  • Cash, card or invoice – no surcharge, no booking fee.
  • Child seats free on request.

Nearby: Orpington, Sidcup, Sevenoaks and Dartford.

Sunday services in central London, starting from Bromley

Which church should you go to on a Sunday, and what time are services at Westminster Abbey? Worship is free at Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral. You sit in a set area and cannot sightsee during the service, but the music and setting are memorable. Service times change through the year and on special Sundays, so check each cathedral's website a few days before.

From Bromley, the quickest route to Westminster is the train from Bromley South to London Victoria, about 18 minutes on the fastest services, then a 15-minute walk or a short bus ride to the Abbey.

Q: Can I attend a service at Westminster Abbey for free?

A: Yes. Services are free and open to everyone, but you cannot tour the building during worship. Check the Abbey's website for the current Sunday times.

November events from Bromley: fireworks, Remembrance, Lord Mayor

When are Bonfire Night, Remembrance Sunday and the Lord Mayor's Show, and how do you get there from south-east London? In 2026:

From Bromley South, trains to Victoria leave you a walk from Whitehall. For the City, London Bridge is the easier station. Road closures in central London make driving into town slow on both weekends, so a car is better used for the run home from a station. For Blackheath, parking is very limited; a drop-off and agreed pick-up point is easier.

Q: Are the Blackheath fireworks still free?

A: No. The display became a ticketed event in 2025, and the 2026 show on 7 November is ticketed too. Check Lewisham Council's website for tickets.

Bromley taxi FAQs

How much is a taxi from Bromley to Gatwick?

From £72 for a saloon (sedan) with the £7 drop-off fee included. Route: A21 to Junction 4 of the M25, three junctions clockwise, then the M23 – 40 to 60 minutes. For two or more people with luggage it usually beats the train via Victoria. An MPV is about £145.

Can you pick up outside the Churchill Theatre?

Yes – on Church Road at the side of the theatre, since the High Street itself is pedestrianised. Book for curtain-down plus ten minutes and the driver's registration is texted to you before the show starts.

What is the Bromley to Heathrow fare?

From £83 including the £6 terminal charge, 55 to 85 minutes. Daytime it is the A21, M25 Junction 4 and clockwise to Junction 15; late at night the South Circular and M4 can be quicker. Tell us the terminal.

How much is Bromley to London City Airport?

From £61, 30 to 50 minutes via the A2 and Blackwall Tunnel or the A20 and A102. There is no drop-off charge at City and the ULEZ is already in the fare. Flights are tracked on the way back.

Do you go to the Princess Royal University Hospital?

From £128 from anywhere in BR1 or BR2 to the PRUH on Farnborough Common. Specify main entrance or A&E, ask for wait-and-return on short clinics, and request a wheelchair-accessible vehicle at booking if needed.

Where does the driver wait at Bromley South?

On the High Street outside the station entrance, or on Elmfield Road if the High Street is blocked – the confirmation text says which. We track Southeastern and Thameslink trains, so a late arrival from Victoria or Blackfriars does not cost you anything.

Is Bromley to Central London a fixed price?

From £56 to Zone 1 with the ULEZ included, 35 to 65 minutes by the A21 through Catford and New Cross or the A20 via Lewisham. The trip back from the West End after midnight is priced the same.

Do you cover Bickley, Shortlands and Hayes?

All of BR1 and BR2 – Bickley, Sundridge Park, Shortlands, Hayes, Bromley Common and Southborough – at the Bromley rate. Beckenham, West Wickham and Chislehurst are quoted by postcode.

How to choose. Public transport wins on price for one traveller with hand luggage at 10am. A taxi usually wins when there are two or more of you (one fare for the car, not per person), when you have hold bags or a pushchair, for flights before the first train arrives or landings after the last one leaves, and when a change of train or a station without lifts would be a problem. Rail fares above are per adult; add £4–£6 per person for the DART/shuttle where shown, and remember engineering work most weekends.
