The last train from Charing Cross pulls into Dartford a little after half past midnight, and the forecourt on Home Gardens is not a good place to start looking for a lift. Taxi On The Go is based half a mile from the station and takes pre-booked pickups from it around the clock: your driver tracks the train, waits outside the main entrance, and the fare is fixed before you board at London Bridge. Book online or WhatsApp 020 8888 9988.

Fares from Dartford station

Guide fares for a saloon (sedan) from the station forecourt, one way, four passengers and two large cases. Short hops around Dartford are priced by postcode; airport runs include the terminal drop-off charge. The same figures apply for the journey in the other direction, to the station for your morning train.

Standard saloon (sedan) guide prices; the precise fare depends on where you are going and which vehicle you need. Expect about a quarter more for a 6-seat MPV and about half as much again for an V Class minibus. Airport prices already include the drop-off charge and, in Stansted's case, the Dart Charge. Once your booked train has arrived, the first 15 minutes of waiting at the station are free.

WHERE TO FIND US

Finding your driver outside Dartford station

Dartford station has one main entrance, on Home Gardens opposite the bus stands, at the town-centre end of the platforms. Come through the barriers, out of the ticket hall, and your driver is on the forecourt to the left with the registration you were sent. There is a second exit at the far end of the footbridge onto Station Approach; if you leave that way, just message the driver and they will come round.

What happens before the train arrives:

  • We attach your train time to the booking and the driver checks it against the live Southeastern running data.
  • If the train is running 20 minutes late, the driver arrives 20 minutes later. You are not charged for the delay.
  • The driver texts you their location and registration as the train approaches Dartford.
  • You get 60 minutes of free waiting from the moment your train is actually in.

The station is on Home Gardens, DA1 1DH, a few minutes' walk from the Priory Centre and the Orchard Theatre. If you are being picked up from either of those instead, tell us and we will set the meeting point at the Orchard's Home Gardens entrance or the Priory Centre's Market Street side.

AFTER MIDNIGHT

Last train home to Dartford? Book the car before you leave London

Southeastern's last services into Dartford leave London around midnight: from Charing Cross via Bexleyheath or Sidcup, from Cannon Street via Greenwich, and from Victoria via Bromley South. They arrive between 00:20 and 01:00, often together, and the forecourt empties fast. Nothing local runs on demand at that hour, and app cars are scarce and expensive.

Pre-booking solves it. Send us the train time while you are still in London, or earlier in the evening, and the car is on the forecourt when the doors open. The driver watches the train, so if you miss it and catch the next one, or it terminates short at Barnehurst because of engineering work, you message and the pickup moves. No cancellation, no re-booking.

Further out

THE 07:12 TO CANNON STREET

Getting to Dartford station for your train into London

Dartford is the meeting point of three Southeastern lines, with fast trains to Cannon Street, Charing Cross and Victoria taking around 40 minutes in the peak. Parking at the station is limited and the car park fills early, so many regular commuters from Wilmington, Joydens Wood, Hextable and the Fleet Estate book a car in rather than drive.

A booked pickup to the station works like this: we collect at the time you set, drop on the Home Gardens forecourt, and you walk straight into the ticket hall. From most of Dartford it is under ten minutes and £32–£32. Regulars can set up a standing booking (same time, same days) and pay monthly on an account.

  • Wilmington and Dartford Heath: 6–10 minutes, from £32
  • Crayford: 6–10 minutes, from £32
  • Joydens Wood: 10–15 minutes, from £32
  • Greenhithe and Stone: 10–14 minutes, from £32
  • Swanley and Hextable: 15–25 minutes, from £32

If you are heading for high-speed services instead, Ebbsfleet International is 14 minutes from Dartford station and gets you to St Pancras in 17 minutes on HS1. A lot of passengers with an early Eurostar at St Pancras use Dartford station as the pickup point and go on to Ebbsfleet by car.

STATION TO TERMINAL

Airport transfers that start at Dartford station

Dartford station is a sensible starting point for an airport run if you are coming from the Medway towns, Bexley or south-east London by train and want a car for the last leg rather than heading into London and out again. We treat the station as a normal pickup address, with the train tracked in the same way as a flight.

AirportFromJourneyRoute
Gatwick£8345–70 minA2, M25 J2–J7, M23
Stansted£8855–80 minDartford tunnel, M25, M11
Heathrow£9060–90 minM25 to J15 or A2/M4 at night
London City£5030–50 minA2, A102 Blackwall

Every airport fare includes the terminal drop-off charge, and the Stansted and Luton fares include the Dart Charge. Flight tracking, 60 minutes of free waiting and a name-board meet on request apply to the return journey from the airport to the station or to your home.

AROUND THE STATION

Town-centre pickups: Priory Centre, Orchard Theatre and Central Park

  • Orchard Theatre: pickups from the Home Gardens side after the show. Book for the advertised finish time and we track the curtain rather than the clock, so a long interval does not leave you standing outside.
  • Priory Centre: the Market Street entrance is the easiest for a car to reach.
  • Central Park and the Fairfield leisure centre: collected from the Cranford Road side.
  • Princes Park on match days: pickups from Grassbanks, with the road closures around the ground taken into account.

Shoppers heading to Bluewater from the station are a regular run at £13 and 8–12 minutes down the A2; we collect from the entrance you name on the way back. Hospital appointments at Darent Valley are £32 from the station and we can drop at the main entrance or A&E.

For everything else in DA1, DA2 and DA4, the Dartford taxi page has the full local fare list.

Early train from St Pancras or Paddington? Starting from Dartford

How do you reach St Pancras or Paddington before the Tube opens? From Dartford you have an advantage for St Pancras: Thameslink trains run from Dartford through Greenwich and London Bridge straight to St Pancras with no change. Check the first departure of the day on the National Rail journey planner, because it may not be early enough for a first Eurostar.

Paddington is harder. You would need to change in central London, and early weekend engineering works are common, with buses replacing trains on some routes.

Q: Is there a direct train from Dartford to St Pancras?

A: Yes. Thameslink trains from Dartford run via Greenwich and London Bridge to St Pancras without a change. Check the first train time if you are catching an early Eurostar.

Good to know

Dartford station taxi — what people ask

Where do taxis pick up at Dartford station?

On the forecourt outside the main entrance on Home Gardens, DA1 1DH, opposite the bus stands. Come through the barriers and out of the ticket hall; your pre-booked driver is waiting there with the registration you were sent. If you exit onto Station Approach, message the driver and they will come round.

Can I get a taxi from Dartford station after the last train?

Yes, provided you book. The last trains from Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria arrive between about 00:20 and 01:00, and we cover them every night at the same fixed fares as daytime. Send us the train time before you leave London and the driver will be on the forecourt.

What if my train into Dartford is delayed?

The driver is tracking it and arrives when the train does. There is no charge for the delay, and your 60 minutes of free waiting starts when the train is actually in. If you miss the train and take the next one, message us and the pickup moves.

How much is a taxi from Dartford station to Bluewater?

From £14 for a saloon (sedan), and the journey is 8–12 minutes down the A2 to Greenhithe. Tell us which Bluewater entrance you want and we will drop you there. The return from Bluewater to the station is the same price.

Can you take me from Dartford station to Ebbsfleet International?

Yes, from £22 in 10–15 minutes. It is a popular connection for passengers switching to the high-speed service to St Pancras, which takes 17 minutes from Ebbsfleet. Note that Eurostar no longer stops at Ebbsfleet, so Eurostar passengers should continue to St Pancras.

How to choose. Public transport wins on price for one traveller with hand luggage at 10am. A taxi usually wins when there are two or more of you (one fare for the car, not per person), when you have hold bags or a pushchair, for flights before the first train arrives or landings after the last one leaves, and when a change of train or a station without lifts would be a problem. Rail fares above are per adult; add £4–£6 per person for the DART/shuttle where shown, and remember engineering work most weekends.
