Where we pick up in Beckenham

Knowing the right spot saves more time than knowing the fastest road. These are the pickup points we use, and why.

  • Beckenham Junction. The taxi bay is on the Rectory Road side, not the High Street entrance. Tell us which platform you come off and the driver waits at the Rectory Road end.
  • Beckenham High Street. Loading restrictions apply through the day, so pickups are set at the Kelsey Park Road end or outside the library rather than mid-parade.
  • Clock House and New Beckenham. Small forecourts with room for one car. Both are easier for an early start than the Junction.
  • Beckenham Place Park. Use the Beckenham Hill Road entrance for the mansion and the swimming lake; the Southend Road car park is the one to give for the golf course side.

Getting out of Beckenham: what actually matters

Beckenham is unusually well connected for somewhere this far out: the Junction carries Southeastern trains to Victoria and London Bridge and is the eastern terminus of Tramlink to Croydon and Wimbledon. That is fine on a Tuesday morning. It is no use at all at 4am for a Gatwick departure, and it is no use with a family's luggage, which is where most of our Beckenham work comes from.

The geography matters for airport timings. Beckenham sits between the A222 and the A21, so the Gatwick run goes out through Croydon to the M23 rather than round the M25 — 23.8 miles and usually quicker than the map suggests outside the peak. Heathrow is the awkward one at 25.3 miles, because there is no good westward road from BR3: the choice is the A205 South Circular to the M4 or the M25 anticlockwise, and which is faster changes by the hour. We pick on the morning, not the week before.

London City is the closest airport to Beckenham at 10.4 miles, through the Blackwall or Rotherhithe tunnel. It is the run where a fixed price saves the most, because the tunnel charges now vary by time of day and are handled inside your fare rather than billed to you afterwards.

Areas we cover from Beckenham

Beckenham, Park Langley, Eden Park, Elmers End, Clock House, New Beckenham, Shortlands, Kelsey Park, Beckenham Hill and Copers Cope. If you are just outside this list, ask – we cover the whole Bromley, Bexley and Dartford corridor and will tell you honestly if a job is better placed with someone closer.

Book a Beckenham taxi

Get a fixed quote above, message us on WhatsApp, or call 020 8888 9988. We confirm the price in writing before you travel. Airport pickups are tracked against your flight number, so a delayed landing does not cost you the car.

Beckenham taxi questions

Where does the driver wait at Beckenham Junction?

At the Rectory Road taxi bay. The High Street entrance has no stopping, so if you walk out that side you will not find the car — tell us your platform and we will meet you at the right end.

Is it cheaper to get the tram to Croydon and a train to Gatwick?

Cheaper for one person travelling light, yes. For two or more with cases the fixed fare of £101 in a saloon (sedan) usually wins once you have paid two tram fares and two Gatwick Express or Southern tickets, and it is door to terminal.

Can you collect from Beckenham Place Park events?

Yes. Give us the entrance you will be at — Beckenham Hill Road for the mansion and lake, Southend Road for the golf side — because the park is large enough that the wrong gate is a twenty-minute walk.

How to choose. Public transport wins on price for one traveller with hand luggage at 10am. A taxi usually wins when there are two or more of you (one fare for the car, not per person), when you have hold bags or a pushchair, for flights before the first train arrives or landings after the last one leaves, and when a change of train or a station without lifts would be a problem. Rail fares above are per adult; add £4–£6 per person for the DART/shuttle where shown, and remember engineering work most weekends.
