Erith Taxi

Stand on Erith Pier – the longest on the Thames – and you can see the QEII bridge downstream and the cranes at Belvedere upriver. Erith is a riverside town with a station, a big Riverside shopping centre and, since the Elizabeth line opened at Abbey Wood, a fast way into London that still needs a car at one end. Taxi On The Go covers Erith DA8, Slade Green, Northumberland Heath and Belvedere with pre-booked, fixed-fare private hire from our base in Dartford, 24 hours a day. Prices are on the fare list.

Quick answer

An Erith taxi with Taxi On The Go is pre-booked private hire with the fare agreed in advance: Bexleyheath from £13, Abbey Wood (Elizabeth line) from £32, Dartford from £15, Bluewater from £23, London City Airport from £53, Central London from £63, Gatwick from £79, Heathrow from £90, Stansted from £90. Available 24/7 across DA8 with no booking fee. Book online, WhatsApp or call 020 8888 9988.

Guide prices from Erith DA8 for a saloon (sedan), one way. We fix the fare at booking based on your address and vehicle; what the meter would have said on the A2 or in the Blackwall queue is irrelevant. Airport drop-off fees and the Dart Charge are inside every figure.

ELIZABETH LINE CONNECTION

Erith to Abbey Wood – the taxi leg of the fast way into town

The Elizabeth line has changed how Erith gets to London. From Abbey Wood it is around 11 minutes to Canary Wharf, 20 to Liverpool Street and under an hour to Heathrow, but Abbey Wood is two miles away and the bus takes the long route through Belvedere. A taxi from Erith to Abbey Wood is from £14 and takes ten to fifteen minutes via Picardy Manorway or the A2016 Bronze Age Way.

Coming home, the last Elizabeth line trains reach Abbey Wood after midnight and the station forecourt on Harrow Manorway empties fast. Pre-book and we will be there with your train tracked, so a delay at Whitechapel does not leave you standing outside at 1am.

Erith's own station

Erith station is on the North Kent line with Southeastern services to Cannon Street and Charing Cross via Woolwich and Greenwich, and to Dartford and Gravesend the other way. It is a decent option for London Bridge. We collect outside the entrance on Stonewood Road; give us your train time and the driver will be waiting.

Slade Green

Slade Green station, one stop towards Dartford, serves the estates south of the railway. A car from Slade Green to Erith town centre is from £9, and to Dartford from £15.

PIER, RIVERSIDE, HIGH STREET

Getting around Erith – Riverside shopping, the pier and the estates

Most of our Erith work is local. The Riverside Shopping Centre and the Morrisons on James Watt Way generate constant short trips home with bags, from £32 within the town and £9 out to Belvedere or Northumberland Heath. The pier and the riverside gardens are popular for Sunday walks, and the Erith Playhouse on the High Street brings evening pickups when the show finishes.

Northumberland Heath

Bexley Road, Brook Street and the Colyers Lane estate – from £45 into town, from £32 to Bexleyheath.

Belvedere

Picardy Road, Nuxley Road village and Lesnes Abbey Woods – from £32 to Erith, from £32 to Abbey Wood.

Slade Green & Howbury

Slade Green Road, Whitehall Lane, Moat Lane – from £32 to the town centre, £32 to Crayford.

Erith Marshes & industrial

Manor Road, Church Manorway and the Thames-side works – account invoicing for shift pickups.

Erith Health Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich (from £22) and Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford (from £15) are regular medical runs. We do discharge pickups from both with a wheelchair-accessible vehicle where needed – see the accessible taxi page.

FLYING FROM ERITH

Airport taxis from DA8 – City is closest, Stansted is closer than you think

Erith is one of the nearest parts of Kent to London City Airport. The run is from £53 and takes 20 to 35 minutes: Bronze Age Way and the A2016 through Thamesmead to Woolwich, then under the river by the Silvertown or Blackwall tunnel and along the A13 into Silvertown. The Woolwich Ferry lands almost next to the airport but its timetable is too unreliable for a flight, so we only use it if you ask. Either way there is no drop-off charge at City.

Stansted is nearer than people expect because the Dartford Crossing is a few minutes away at Junction 1a. Tunnels northbound, M25 to Junction 27, M11 to Junction 8: from £90, 45 to 70 minutes, Dart Charge and the £7 drop-off included.

  • Gatwick – from £79. A2 to M25 J2, clockwise round to J7, down the M23. 50–70 minutes off-peak. £7 drop-off included.
  • Heathrow – from £90. M25 anticlockwise to J15 by day; A2, Blackwall and M4 at night. 60–90 minutes. £6 drop-off included.
  • Luton – from £101. Over the Crossing and anticlockwise to J21, then the M1. 70–100 minutes. £5 drop-off included.

All airport pickups get flight tracking and 60 minutes' free waiting after landing; a name board in arrivals is available on request. More on each airport at airport transfers and Stansted transfers.

FIXED FARE, ALLOCATED CAR

What you get from a pre-booked Erith car that an app will not promise

Erith has fewer app drivers cruising than Bexleyheath or Woolwich, and the ones that are around drift away after the evening peak. A pre-booked private hire car means the vehicle is assigned to you hours in advance, the driver knows the address, and the price is fixed whatever the traffic does on the A2 or at the Crossing.

There is a practical point here too. Erith's older streets around the High Street and the one-way system by the Riverside centre can confuse a driver following a phone. Ours know where the loading bays and pickup spots are.

  • Fixed price – agreed at booking, no surge, no meter.
  • Driver details in advance – name, car and registration by text.
  • Licensed and vetted – private hire licence, DBS check, hire-and-reward insurance.
  • Any vehicle – saloon (sedan), estate, 6-seat MPV, V Class minibus, executive Mercedes E or V-Class.
  • Cash, card or invoice – zero card fee; account billing for businesses along the Erith riverside.
  • Waiting built in – 60 minutes free at your door, 45 at an airport.
  • Child seats free on request.

For an early flight we recommend booking the previous day. You will sleep better knowing the car is confirmed rather than hoping one is nearby at 4am.

DA8, DA17, DA18 AND AROUND

Where our Erith cars go – Belvedere to Barnehurst and out of the area

Our Erith service covers the whole of DA8 plus Belvedere DA17, the Thamesmead side of DA18, Northumberland Heath, Slade Green, Barnehurst and the Colyers estate. Fixed fares apply to all of it. Longer journeys from Erith include Central London from £63, Bromley from £34, Lakeside over the Crossing from £32, and the cruise terminals – Tilbury from £32 (it is almost across the river), Dover from £163 and Southampton from £176.

Erith taxi questions answered

How much is a taxi from Erith to Abbey Wood for the Elizabeth line?

From £15 for a saloon (sedan), taking ten to fifteen minutes via Bronze Age Way or Picardy Manorway. We drop right by the station entrance on Harrow Manorway. For the trip home, book ahead and we track your Elizabeth line train so the driver is there when you come out, even after midnight.

What is the fare from Erith to London City Airport?

From £53 and 20 to 35 minutes depending on the time of day. Erith is one of the closest Kent-side pickups to City Airport, and there is no drop-off charge there. On return we track the flight and give you 60 minutes free after landing.

Can you pick up from Erith station late at night?

We do. Let us know which train you are on and the driver will be waiting outside on Stonewood Road. Southeastern services from Cannon Street and Charing Cross are monitored, so a delay at Woolwich simply shifts the pickup later. The service runs through the night, seven days a week.

How long is Erith to Stansted by car?

From £90, taking 45 to 70 minutes. With the Dartford Crossing at Junction 1a just up the road, the route is the northbound tunnels, the M25 round to Junction 27 and then the M11 up to Junction 8. Both the Dart Charge and Stansted's £7 drop-off fee are within the price.

Do you cover Slade Green, Belvedere and Northumberland Heath?

All three, plus Barnehurst and the Thamesmead side of DA18, at the same fixed rates. Slade Green to Erith town is from £32, Belvedere to Abbey Wood from £14, Northumberland Heath to Bexleyheath from £13.

Can I get a taxi from Erith to Bluewater?

From £24, around 15 to 22 minutes via the A206 through Dartford or the A2 and Bean interchange. We drop at whichever entrance you prefer and can book the return for when the shops or cinema close.

Which vehicles do you have?

A saloon (sedan) seats four with two large suitcases, an estate carries extra bags, and we also have a six-seat MPV, an V Class minibus and executive Mercedes E-Class or V-Class cars. Give us the numbers of people and cases and we will send the right vehicle. Child seats are provided free if you ask.

How do I pay and is there a card fee?

Cash or card with the driver, no surcharge either way. Businesses in Erith can set up an account and get an invoice at month end. Because the fare is fixed at booking there are no surprises at the end of the trip.

Do you take patients to Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Darent Valley?

Yes – Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich from £22 and Darent Valley in Dartford from £15. We do outpatient appointments, visiting runs and discharge pickups, with a wheelchair-accessible vehicle available if you book it in advance. Invoicing for care homes is available.

How to choose. Public transport wins on price for one traveller with hand luggage at 10am. A taxi usually wins when there are two or more of you (one fare for the car, not per person), when you have hold bags or a pushchair, for flights before the first train arrives or landings after the last one leaves, and when a change of train or a station without lifts would be a problem. Rail fares above are per adult; add £4–£6 per person for the DART/shuttle where shown, and remember engineering work most weekends.
