The journey

Route & Real-World Timing

Two genuine options

Option 1: Across London (about 29.6 miles)- From Bromley through the A222/A232 area towards Croydon, then the A23, the A217 through Sutton, the A308 past Kingston, and on to the A4/M4 for the airport.- Clear-road time is around 66 minutes.- It's the shorter route, but every mile has traffic lights, buses and school-run traffic.

Option 2: The M25 loop (about 55.6 miles)- A21 south through Bromley Common and Farnborough to M25 Junction 4 (Hewitts Roundabout / Badgers Mount).- Anticlockwise past J5 Sevenoaks, J6 Godstone, J7 Merstham, J8 Reigate, J9 Leatherhead, J10 Wisley, J11 Chertsey, J12 Thorpe and J13 Staines.- Clear-road time is around 71 minutes, almost double the distance but mostly motorway.

How the driver chooses on the day

Before setting off we check the live traffic for both routes. As a rule of thumb:

  • Weekday peaks: the M25 is usually the more predictable of the two. A bad patch on the motorway tends to clear. A jam in Sutton or Kingston has no way round it.
  • Late evenings and weekends: cross-London is often quicker. The lights run in your favour and you save about 26 miles.
  • Closures or overnight roadworks on the M25 usually decide it for us.

You pay the same fixed fare whichever way we go.

Terminal exits

  • Terminals 4 and 5: leave the M25 at J14 onto the A3113 Airport Way. Terminal 5 has its own spur.
  • Terminals 2 and 3: carry on to J15, go east on the M4 to J4, then take the airport spur and the central tunnel. On the cross-London route we come in along the M4 from the east, so we reach the same spur and tunnel.
  • Terminal 1 is closed. Tell us your flight number when you book and we'll confirm your terminal.

Bottlenecks and the time we allow

These are the usual trouble spots, not guarantees:

  • Bromley town centre, Masons Hill and the A21 at Bromley Common on weekday mornings. Allow 10 minutes before we've even left BR2.
  • Hewitts Roundabout (J4) at peak times, where A21 and A224 traffic meets the motorway slip.
  • J5, where traffic off the M26 merges.
  • J6 to J7 and the M23 slip at Merstham, which are slow in both peaks. Allow 10–15 minutes.
  • J8 Reigate Hill, where lorries slow on the climb.
  • J10 Wisley (A3), at its worst on weekday mornings and Friday afternoons. Allow 15–20 minutes.
  • J12 (M3 merge) and J13–J15 around the airport in the morning peak. Allow 10 minutes or more.
  • Cross-London: the Croydon, Sutton and Kingston stretches during the school run. That's the main reason we rarely use this route between 07:00 and 09:30.

Pickup buffer by departure window

Leaving BromleyTime we allow to Heathrow (T4/T5)
22:00–05:0075–80 minutes
05:00–06:3085–90 minutes
Weekday 06:30–09:30120–130 minutes
Weekday 09:30–15:0095–100 minutes
Weekday 15:30–19:00120–130 minutes
Weekend daytime90–100 minutes

For Terminals 2 and 3, add 5–10 minutes for the M4 and the tunnel.

Worked example

Say you're flying long-haul from Terminal 2 at 12:10 on a Monday, and your airline wants you checked in three hours before departure. That means you need to be on the forecourt by 09:10.

  • Your pickup will fall in the 06:30–09:30 window, so we allow 130 minutes.
  • Add 10 minutes for the J15, M4 and tunnel approach.
  • 140 minutes before 09:10 gives a 06:50 pickup from Bromley.

At that time the driver will almost certainly take the M25. If Wisley is clear, you'll have time for breakfast airside. If it's jammed, the buffer covers it.

Heathrow Terminal Drop-Off Rules 2026

Forecourt access by terminal

  • Terminal 2: turn off Constellation Way and go up the ramp.
  • Terminal 3: Cosmopolitan Way onto Camborne Road, which has 4 drop-off lanes.
  • Terminal 4: Stratford Road, with 3 lanes at the top of the ramp.
  • Terminal 5: Wayfarer Road, with only 2 lanes at the top of the ramp, so it's worth having passports ready before we pull in.
  • Terminal 1: closed.

The £7 charge

  • Since 1 January 2026, every vehicle pays £7 per visit to a departures forecourt, with a maximum stay of 10 minutes. That includes taxis and private hire.
  • There's no way to pay at the terminal. You pay online through the APCOA portal or by phone on 0330 008 5600, by 23:59 the following day.
  • If it isn't paid, you get a £80 PCN, reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days.

What it means with us

The drop-off charge is included in your fare. We settle it ourselves, so you get no separate bill and there's no risk of a PCN arriving at your door weeks later.

Blue Badge holders

You can get a 100% discount on each drop-off, but you have to apply in advance. Let us know about your badge when you book.

Flying home

  • We track your flight, so the driver is there for when you actually land.
  • You get 60 minutes' free waiting from touchdown, which is usually enough for passport control and baggage reclaim.
  • Meet and greet with a name board is available on request.
Taxi or train

Bromley to Heathrow by Train: How It Compares

The rail route

All times are typical. Check National Rail or TfL on the day.

  1. Bromley South to London Victoria: about 17–20 minutes.
  2. Victoria to Paddington: by the Circle or District line, or a black cab across the West End.
  3. Paddington to Heathrow: either the Elizabeth line or the Heathrow Express, which takes about 15 minutes but costs more.

Door to terminal: typically 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, with two changes. That doesn't count getting to Bromley South in the first place.

Per-head cost with our fixed fares

  • Saloon (sedan): £75 ÷ 4 = £36.75 each
  • MPV: £84 ÷ 6 = about £31.17 each
  • 8-seater: £112 ÷ 7 = about £28.86 each
  • 9-seater minibus: £120 ÷ 8 = about £26.13 each

When the car comes out ahead

  • Changes with luggage. The Victoria Underground interchange is no fun with two suitcases and a pushchair. Paddington with a pushchair is another climb.
  • Early starts. For a dawn long-haul flight, the rail connections may not get you there in time. Our fares stay the same at 04:00.
  • Engineering works. Weekend closures can turn a two-change trip into a replacement-bus trip.
  • Groups. Once there are four or more of you, the per-head figures above are worth comparing against your train tickets.

For one person with hand luggage at midday, the train is a fair choice. For anyone else, door-to-terminal tends to win.

Good to know

Bromley to Heathrow Airport taxi — questions

How much is a taxi from Bromley to Heathrow Airport?

From £75 one way in a saloon (sedan) for up to four passengers, fixed when you book. An executive car is from £101, an MPV from £84, an 8-seater from £112 and a 9-seater minibus from £120. The Heathrow drop-off charge is included.

How long does it take to get from Bromley to Heathrow Airport?

Usually 40–65 min for about 30 miles. Early mornings are at the quick end, weekday peaks at the slow end, and we plan your pickup with that margin.

Which terminal will you drop me at?

The one your airline uses. We check it from your flight number, and the Heathrow drop-off charge is included.

Can you pick me up from Heathrow Airport and take me to Bromley?

Yes, at any hour. Give us your flight number and we track it, with 60 minutes' free waiting from touchdown.

Are child seats and larger vehicles available?

Yes. Child seats and boosters are free, and we have MPVs, 8-seaters and 9-seater minibuses, plus executive Mercedes cars. Tell us when you book.

Is the price fixed from Bromley?

Yes. The fare is agreed before you travel and does not change with traffic, the time of day or delays at the airport.

EU Entry/Exit System (EES): what travellers ask

How early should I get to a European airport for my flight home?

ABTA advises arriving at least two hours before departure, because the EES exit check can add time at busy airports.

My flight home might land late because of EES queues. What happens to my transfer?

Give your flight number when you book, so the driver can follow the actual landing time rather than the scheduled one.

Does EES registration cost anything?

No. EES registration is free and happens at the border. Be wary of websites that charge for "EES registration"; there is nothing to buy in advance.

Do I need ETIAS as well?

Not yet. ETIAS, the EU's separate online travel authorisation, has not launched, so there is nothing to apply for. The EU will announce a start date months in advance; until then, avoid websites that charge for it.

EES is the EU's digital border check for non-EU travellers, fully in use since April 2026. It is not a visa. Checked September 2026; rules can change, so see the EU Travel to Europe site before you travel.
