Getting out of Gravesend: what actually matters
Gravesend sits on the A2 corridor, which is what makes it quick for Heathrow and Gatwick: the driver is on the A2 within minutes and joins the M25 at Junction 2 before running anticlockwise round the south of London.
For Stansted and Luton the route goes north over the Dartford Crossing. The crossing charge is already in the fare. London City is reached along the A2 towards the river tunnels, and the timing depends far more on the Blackwall approach than on the miles.
Gravesend has fast Southeastern high-speed trains into St Pancras, but none of them helps with an early flight and heavy cases. The riverside, the Gurdwara, Windmill Hill and the Tilbury ferry bring a steady flow of visitors who arrive by train and leave by taxi.
