Short hops from Ebbsfleet and Bluewater: the price list

Saloon (sedan) fares, one way, fixed at booking. These are short local runs so the price barely moves; what changes it is the vehicle. A 6-seat MPV adds about a quarter, an 8-seater about half.

TRAIN IN, SHOP, TAXI BACK

A Bluewater day trip by high-speed train and taxi

Bluewater has no station of its own. Greenhithe is a mile away, but from London the faster option is the high-speed line to Ebbsfleet (17 minutes from St Pancras, 11 from Stratford) and a short car ride: inside half an hour of leaving the capital you are in the centre.

Getting there. Book the pickup for your train's arrival time. We track Southeastern high-speed services, so if your train is a few minutes down the driver simply waits, and 15 minutes at the forecourt is free. The car takes you along the A2 and drops at whichever end you want: the Plaza near the Wintergarden, the Guildhall side, or the cinema and restaurants at the Water Circus.

Getting back. You are laden with bags and the bus stop is a long walk. Message us on 020 8888 9988 with the entrance you are at, or pre-book the return when you book the outward leg, and a car comes to that door. Tell us which train you are aiming for at Ebbsfleet and the driver plans around it.

The Bluewater taxi page has the full list of pickup points and how to describe where you are; naming a shop helps.

GUESTS, WORKERS, EARLY STARTS

Hotel guests and Bluewater staff using Ebbsfleet

We run the same £14 fixed fare to any of the hotels around Bluewater and Ebbsfleet.

  • Business guests checking into a Bluewater or Greenhithe hotel after a day in the City, often on the last high-speed train after 11pm.
  • Wedding and event guests at the venues around Greenhithe and Stone, arriving in numbers and needing an MPV or two.
  • Airport stopovers — people staying at Bluewater the night before a Heathrow or Gatwick flight, who then book us for the airport leg. See Bluewater to Heathrow and Bluewater to Gatwick.

Staff shifts

Bluewater employs thousands, and a good number of them commute through Ebbsfleet or live in Northfleet, Swanscombe and the Garden City. Early opens and late closes fall outside bus times, and a £7–£14 fare pre-booked for the same time daily is a common arrangement. We can set up a standing booking so you do not have to message each night, and we can invoice an employer if the store or restaurant is covering it.

AFTER THE FILM

Late-night cinema and restaurant pickups from Bluewater

The Showcase cinema at Bluewater runs screenings that finish after midnight, and the restaurants around the Water Circus and the Plaza keep going late. By then the last buses have gone. The last high-speed train from Ebbsfleet towards London leaves a little before midnight.

We are on the road all night. Pre-book the pickup for the film's end time plus ten minutes, tell us the entrance nearest the cinema, and the driver is waiting when you walk out. Ebbsfleet station for the last train is ten minutes; if you have missed it, the same car takes you on to Dartford, Gravesend or wherever home is, at the local fares in the table above. The late-night taxi page explains how our overnight cover works.

A word on the car parks

Bluewater's car parks are very large. When you book, name the entrance, not just the car park zone. The main ones are the Plaza, the Guildhall, the Thames Walk and the Water Circus; each has a pickup point outside the doors. If in doubt, stand by the entrance you came in through and message the driver.

GREENHITHE, DARTFORD, GRAVESEND

Other short runs from Ebbsfleet International

The same forecourt pickup serves the whole of north-west Kent. In rough order of distance:

Northfleet, £7

A mile away; the station, Springhead Park and the Ebbsfleet United ground at Stonebridge Road.

Gravesend, £14

Town centre, the station for connections, the Tilbury ferry pier, or Riverview Park.

Greenhithe, £12

Ingress Park and the riverside, plus Stone and Crossways at about the same fare.

Dartford, £14

Town centre, the station for Southeastern services, Darent Valley Hospital or the Orchard Theatre.

Swanscombe and the Ebbsfleet Garden City estates at Castle Hill and Alkerden are shorter still, and for anything further afield the Ebbsfleet International taxi page has fares to Bexley, Bromley and the airports. If you are starting in Dartford and heading to the centre rather than the station, Dartford taxis covers the £12 Bluewater run from DA1.

One note on the station itself: Eurostar trains no longer stop at Ebbsfleet, so arrivals from the continent come through St Pancras. The domestic high-speed service runs every 15 minutes or so, and we meet all of them.

TEN POUNDS, NO GUESSWORK

Why pre-book a three-mile taxi at all?

Because Ebbsfleet and Bluewater are both places where a car is hard to find at the wrong moment.

  • The rank at Ebbsfleet is busy after London trains and empty late at night. A booked car is there regardless.
  • Bluewater has no rank and the pickup points are spread across four entrances. A booked driver knows which one you named.
  • The price is fixed at £14. A short-hop fare on an app can double after a big screening or on a wet Saturday.
  • Groups — a 6-seat MPV from £17 or the 8-seater from £22 takes a family or a hen party in one car rather than three.

Every driver is licensed by the council and DBS-checked, the cars are insured for private hire, and child seats are free if you ask when you book. Pay by card in the car, cash, or invoice if it is a business booking. There is no booking fee and no surcharge for paying by card. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles can be arranged; see accessible taxis.

Ebbsfleet to Bluewater taxi FAQs

How much is a taxi from Ebbsfleet station to Bluewater?

From £14 for a saloon (sedan), fixed when you book, in either direction. A 6-seat MPV is from about £15 and the 8-seat minibus from about £20. No booking fee, no card surcharge, and the price does not rise late at night or at weekends.

How long does it take to get from Ebbsfleet to Bluewater?

About 8–12 minutes for the 3 miles. The driver joins the A2 westbound at the Ebbsfleet junction and leaves at Bluewater a couple of minutes later. Saturday afternoons and the run-up to Christmas can add a few minutes on the approach roads.

Which Bluewater entrance should I ask to be dropped at?

The Plaza is nearest the Wintergarden and John Lewis end; the Guildhall side suits House of Fraser; the Water Circus is best for the Showcase cinema and restaurants. Name the entrance when you book and the driver drops you at its doors.

Can I book a return taxi from Bluewater to Ebbsfleet for a specific train?

Yes. Tell us the train you want and the entrance you will be at, and we schedule the pickup to reach the forecourt with time to spare. The high-speed service to St Pancras runs roughly every 15 minutes and takes 17 minutes.

Is there a direct train to Bluewater?

No. Bluewater has no station; the nearest is Greenhithe, about a mile away. From London the fastest way is the high-speed train to Ebbsfleet International and a 10-minute taxi, which gets you from St Pancras to the shops in about half an hour.

Do you pick up from the Showcase cinema at Bluewater after midnight?

Yes, we operate all night. Book for the film's end time plus ten minutes and name the Water Circus entrance. If you have missed the last train at Ebbsfleet, the same car can take you on to Dartford, Gravesend or Greenhithe at the fares on this page.

Can Bluewater staff set up a regular taxi from Ebbsfleet?

Yes. Staff on early or late shifts often use a standing booking at the same time each day from Ebbsfleet, Northfleet or Swanscombe. Tell us the pattern once and we allocate a driver daily. Employers covering the cost can be invoiced monthly.

Do you take groups in one vehicle, and how do I pay?

Yes. The 6-seat MPV carries a family and their shopping; the 8-seater suits a birthday outing or hen group, each one fixed price with child seats free on request. Pay by card without surcharge, cash, or invoice. No minimum-fare penalty for short trips.

EU Entry/Exit System (EES): what to expect before you cross

What happens if my car has both EU and UK passengers at Dover?

The Port of Dover says any vehicle carrying a mix of EU and non-EU citizens goes to the EES registration area, so allow for that when you plan your drive or transfer.

How early should I arrive for my Eurostar or ferry now that EES is live?

Follow the arrival time your operator gives you. The Port of Dover asks car passengers to arrive no more than 2 hours before the ferry. First-time registration adds a few minutes per person, so when you book a transfer, set a pickup time that gets you there with a margin.

Does EES registration cost anything?

No. EES registration is free and happens at the border. Be wary of websites that charge for "EES registration"; there is nothing to buy in advance.

Do I need ETIAS as well?

Not yet. ETIAS, the EU's separate online travel authorisation, has not launched, so there is nothing to apply for. The EU will announce a start date months in advance; until then, avoid websites that charge for it.

EES is the EU's digital border check for non-EU travellers, fully in use since April 2026. It is not a visa. Checked September 2026; rules can change, so see the EU Travel to Europe site before you travel.

How to choose. Public transport wins on price for one traveller with hand luggage at 10am. A taxi usually wins when there are two or more of you (one fare for the car, not per person), when you have hold bags or a pushchair, for flights before the first train arrives or landings after the last one leaves, and when a change of train or a station without lifts would be a problem. Rail fares above are per adult; add £4–£6 per person for the DART/shuttle where shown, and remember engineering work most weekends.
