Phones, SIM cards and data when you land in the UK
How to stay connected on arrival: eSIMs you can set up before you fly, where to buy a SIM at the airport, free Wi-Fi, and why your driver can still find you if your phone is dead.
Set up before you fly
An eSIM from a UK or international provider can be installed at home and activates when you land, which is the least stressful option. Check your phone is unlocked and eSIM-capable. UK networks all offer pay-as-you-go eSIMs from about a week's data upwards.
Buying a SIM at the airport
Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted have shops and vending machines selling pay-as-you-go SIMs in arrivals and departures; prices at the airport are higher than in a supermarket or phone shop in town, so buy the smallest plan you need and top up later.
Free Wi-Fi and reaching your driver
All London airports have free Wi-Fi in the terminals. If you cannot get online, our driver is already waiting with a name board in arrivals, and you can call or message us on 020 8888 9988 from any phone. Roaming inside the UK is free for UK SIMs; visitors should check their home network's UK roaming rates via the Ofcom guidance linked below.
